EMMA ANDERSSON, ATTORNEY
Emma Andersson joined Bernabei & Wachtel, PLLC from the American Civil Liberties Union where she worked in the Drug Law Reform Project as a Legal Fellow. While at the ACLU, Ms. Andersson engaged in civil rights litigation combating punitive drug policies that violate civil liberties and lead to the unnecessary incarceration of minority and other non-violent offenders. Her work included cases opposing the racially selective enforcement of drug laws, due process violations in civil asset forfeiture, and abusive searches and seizures of students and teachers in public schools.
Ms. Andersson graduated from Yale Law School in 2008. At Yale, she was a Coker teaching fellow in Constitutional Law, co-directed the Rebellious Lawyering conference, worked for the New Haven Legal Assistance Association, co-chaired the Initiative for Public Interest Law at Yale, served on the board of the Yale American Constitution Society, and worked for the San Francisco City Attorney in its affirmative litigation practice. In addition, Ms. Andersson interned for the Honorable Judge Stephen Reinhardt and at the ACLU of Southern California.
Prior to law school, Ms. Andersson graduated summa cum laude from Barnard College where she majored in History and minored in Political Science.
Ms. Andersson has accepted a federal appellate clerkship for the 2010-11 term.
Ms. Andersson is admitted to practice law in California.
