B&W Represented A Whistleblower at the Byron Nuclear Power Plant

The Fox News TV station in Rockford, Illinois, recently reported on Matt Simon, a client who disclosed significant security problems at the Byron nuclear power plant in northern Illinois. Click here to hear the report. The story, “Byron Nuclear Power Plant security procedures are coming under scrutiny this week,” reported that:
The Department of Labor is holding a hearing on charges by a former plant security training instructor. Matt Simon says he was fired in 2008 because he brought forward concerns about security guards being inadequately trained, and being pressured to qualify them as ready. Simon told WTVO during an interview Wednesday, “They need to be on the ready and highly trained in order to defend the plant and I don’t feel they are getting that at this point.” A plant spokesperson says he can’t comment on the hearing because it’s still in progress. But he adds Exelon, who owns the Byron plant, actively encourages employees and contractors to raise issues and concerns.
