Scuffle at Ballard Spahr
The American Lawyer (Nov. 2007), in an article titled “Scuffle at Ballard Spahr,” reported on one of Bernabei & Kabat’s cases. This case involves a female partner at the Ballard Spahr law firm, who has gender discrimination, retaliation, and breach of fiduciary duty claims against the law firm. Her claims arise from the law firm’s removal of client matters from her, and refusing to give her equal credit for the clients and practice group that she developed over many years, after she protested the inequitable compensation. Ballard Spahr, instead of attempting to resolve her claims, filed a retaliatory law suit against her, which the court promptly dismissed based upon our motion to dismiss. The court recently denied the law firm’s motion for reconsideration.
